Libby is young, British, urban, somewhat experienced, and rather insecure.
I quite liked her. In fact, the best and most poignant part of the book came in the section I was most reluctant to read: the part about how she and Ed relate. She makes all kinds of excuses to tolerate his annoying behaviors because she wants to have her dream of marriage and financial security. She and her best friend Jules have conversations I myself have had.
Green does a great job developing her supporting cast of characters which can be tricky when the book is written in first person point of view like this one is. Jules and Nick are very likable, and even Ed, with all his flaws, comes across as sympathetic. Libby herself is very real. Far from perfect, but fun anyway.

This book manages to be a lot of very wonderful things: funny, romantic, thoughtful, and entertaining. I will be looking for her other books, both backlist and forthcoming. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Mr.

Mr. Maybe by Jane Green
Great review! I see this book when I browsing at Borders or Barnes and Noble and wonder about it. Like you, I really want to read The Beach House. I have to say Bookends was one of my favourite Jane Green reads, especially made for a bookaholic. I have way too many books to read to spend good time on a 2 star read!! Thanks for the great review! Great review. I have never read a Jane Green novel and have been wondering if I should.
Maybe another one of hers? I really like Jane Green, but I feel like her books are hit or miss. This one seems to be more of a miss.

Thanks for the review. This book sounds like something I would feel uncomfortable reading. I literally loved the book, apparantly nothing mutual here , but I also realized that this may be because of the fact that I once had to make a smilar choice to hers.
